Please start by looking at our adoptable cats and submitting an application! We will review your application and get back to you within 1-3 days. Please complete the application fully so we can get started calling your references and answering any questions or concerns you may have.
We complete a home visit prior to or at the time of adoption. During this visit, we check for window screens in ALL windows, hazards in the home, and help you with any questions about setting up for your new family members.
We ask for an adoption fee (see below), and a signed adoption agreement.
How much does an adoption cost?
We charge $150 for cat or kitten adoption as our standard rate.
HOWEVER, we believe in accessibility in adjusting our adoption fees on a sliding scale. Please feel free to discuss your pet financial concerns with us and we will help you with adoption, low-cost vetting, and other costs.
We also give discounts to seniors citizens, veterans, families with children under 12 years, and recipients of public assistance such as SNAP, WIC, or public housing.
Where do the Cat Castle adoptables come from?
Street rescues
ACC euthanasia list
Friendly colony cats
Where do you keep your animals?
We don’t have a physical shelter, and we believe that cats kittens are better socialized if they spend their entire lives in a home full of love. Each of our foster cats stays in a vetted foster home where they are cared for and socialized while they seek their forever home.
If you would like to become a foster home, please complete our foster application!
What is included with the adoption fee?
De-worming, flea/ mite treatment
FVRCP vaccine
Rabies vaccine
SNAP testing for FIV/ FeLV
Spay/ neuter
Additional medical care as necessary.
Are you no kill?
Yes, of course! We will only humanely euthanize a cat if their suffering is beyond medical care and it is recommended by veterinary professionals.
Are you a non-profit?
Yes! We are a NYS registered non-profit organization and federal 501(c)(3) charity. Our EIN is 83-3433612, and you can find us on Guidestar.
Who is your vet?
We don’t have a vet on staff! However, we complete much of the medical treatment by ourselves and use ASPCA services for spay/ neuter/ vaccinations.
We use Harlem Animal Hospital for standard medical care as well as BluePearl for emergency treatment.
Do you accept surrendered cats?
It depends on the circumstance. Ideally, we want to help owners keep their cats, and can work with you on any issues that may be preventing you from keeping your pet. Please use the contact us form on our site to reach out.
Do you take donations of sheets, blankets, bowls, food, etc?
Yes! Please contact us to arrange a time to drop off.
